It's Official - GTA V Spring 2013

Rockstar have today officially announced that Grand Theft Auto V would be released in spring 2013, also finally confirming that it would be released for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. Although this isn't new because of the recent leaks, we thought that we would post this here anyway due to the fact that the "leaks" from this week are officially confirmed to be real by Rockstar themselves.

Developed by series creator Rockstar North, Grand Theft Auto V takes place in a re-imagined, present-day Southern California in the largest and most thriving game-world we have ever created set in the sprawling city of Los Santos and for miles beyond – from the tops of the mountains to the depths of the ocean.

Starting next week November 5, 2012, Grand Theft Auto V will become available for pre-order everywhere and fans can expect a host of new information to become available in November.

Rockstar have stated that the PC version of Grand Theft Auto V is not a focus at this time.

Is Our World Actually a Simulation? GTA and Dev Secrets of the Universe

An article has recently been posted on the Rockstar Games Newswire, which mentions NASA comparing our world to that of a video game such as Grand Theft Auto IV.

"The natural world behaves exactly the same way as the environment of Grand Theft Auto IV. In the game, you can explore Liberty City seamlessly in phenomenal detail. I made a calculation of how big that city is, and it turns out it’s a million times larger than my PlayStation 3. You see exactly what you need to see of Liberty City when you need to see it, abbreviating the entire game universe into the console. The universe behaves in the exact same way. In quantum mechanics, particles do not have a definite state unless they’re being observed. Many theorists have spent a lot of time trying to figure out how you explain this. One explanation is that we’re living within a simulation, seeing what we need to see when we need to see it." --NASA Scientist Rich Terrile

It is therefore theorised that a video game could hold the secrets to the universe. Is our world simply a simulation, being played out as a video game by some advanced beings; much like we play video games ourselves? It is definitely an interesting concept to think about.

Rumoured GTA V release date; "March 9" (PSM3)

After the October fairy tale for Grand Theft Auto V – which is the likely release date that will happen, a new rumor-mill was taken from PSM3’s May issue claiming the highly anticipated open-world title will only arrive next year — March 9 to be exact.

As proof, we have a screenshot of the claim in question which can be seen above. On this page, it says: "It’s back to the sun-kissed streets of San Andreas for the latest in Rockstar’s seminal series, out 9 March”.

GTAForums has a nice thread talking about this leak, and most of its members are wondering if this "Out 9 March” means its launch date for 2013, or just a placeholder time for something else? As we all know, Rockstar likes to release GTA titles on Tuesday similar with San Andreas on October 26, 2004 or GTA IV on April 29, 2008. Then again, if you’ll look at the date of Max Payne 3, it will release on May 15 which is a Sunday on North America. So the day that March 9 falls on (Saturday) is hardly an indicator for a possible release date.

As hinted by Take-Two (Rockstar’s parent company) making a statement that while its fiscal Q3 for 2011 had gone sour, the outfit is still confident it’ll have the "most lucrative” fiscal year on 2013 suggesting GTA V might be their midas touch.

Again, just rumours - and this shouldn't be taken with a grain of salt until Rockstar announce a release date for the game.

Max Payne Mobile Coming to iOS Devices on April 12th and Android Devices on April 26th

Rockstar Games have today announce that Max Payne Mobile will be available exclusively for iOS devices on Thursday, April 12th, with the Android version launching two weeks later on April 26th.

The full classic Max Payne PC experience, Max Payne Mobile has been optimized for both iOS and Android devices and features HD graphics, high-resolution textures, Social Club connectivity and user-customizable controls.

Max Payne Mobile on iOS supports the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod Touch 4, iPad 1, iPad 2 and the new iPad. We'll have a list of supported Android devices in the coming weeks.

Grand Theft Auto Recognized at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London

Rockstar Games have announced that the Grand Theft Auto series has been selected for inclusion in the Victoria and Albert Museum's exhibition - British Design 1948–2012: Innovation in the Modern Age. A celebration of UK contributions to the world of art and design in the post-war era, spanning the time period from the 1948 ‘Austerity Games' to this summer's Olympic Games in London, the exhibit is running now through August 12th. Representing each Grand Theft Auto title in the franchise and showcasing the innovation of living metropolises and open world gameplay, the exhibit features a commemorative video chronicling the history of the Grand Theft Auto series - and more.

Play Max Payne 3 at PAX East in Boston this Weekend: April 6th - 8th

Rockstar Games have announced that they will be at PAX East this coming weekend (Friday April 6th through Sunday April 8th) with Max Payne 3 playable at the Rockstar Games booth (#912).

This is a great opportunity if you are in the Boston area or plan to travel to the show to get an exclusive opportunity to go hands-on with Max Payne 3 before it is released this May. Rockstar Games have also stated that they would be giving away some brand new Max Payne 3 merchandise.
